LIVER & GALLBLADDER CLEANSER|
from AMAZON HERBS®
The liver, the largest internal organ inside the body, weights about 3½ pounds and is located on the right
side of the chest.|
It is a reddish brown organ with four lobes of unequal size and shape.
The liver has many important and complex functions:
it is the cleanser and filter of the bloodstream. The liver is responsible for the production of bile, stored in the gallbladder and is released for the digestion of fats. It plays an important role in the metabolism of protein and fats. It stores vitamins (A, D, K, B12) and foliate; it also synthesizes blood clotting factors. It produces albumin; the major component of blood serum.
The liver stores glucose (as glycogen); when it is needed for energy, it is converted back to glucose.
It filters out toxic matter (microorganisms, chemicals, drugs, dead cells and certain debris from the blood). Further the liver filters also out micro-organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites) from the bloodstream.
The liver is the only organ capable of natural regeneration of lost tissue; as little as 25% of a liver can regenerate into a whole liver.
Many diseases can affect the liver such as: Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, Cirrhosis (scarred liver), Hemochromatosis, Tumors, Sclerosing cholangitis, Hepatitis A, B, and C and many others.
The Gallbladder is a small pear-shaped organ located directly under the liver. It collects and concentrates the bile that the body uses to digest fats. Problems may occur when there is inflammation of the gall bladder and bile ducts and/or obstruction to the free flow of this bile.
The organ is not working efficiently, sluggish and/or overloaded with toxic material.
|Fatty Liver and other Liver Problems|
Many diseases of the liver, such as acute liver failure (aka fulminant hepatic failure), are accompanied by jaundice. This is caused by increased levels of bilirubin* in the system.
Symptoms of this are yellowing of the skin and eyeballs.
In a fatty liver more than 5-10% of the liver’s weight is fat; this excess fat can cause liver inflammation and may lead to fatty liver disease.
*Bilirubin is a brownish yellow substance found in bile and produced when the liver breaks down old red blood cells.
A healthy lifestyle is essential for a good functioning liver.
This include regular exercise; no smoking, no or limited alcohol use and no drugs! Also a diet low in sugar helps a lot; being obese can lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Excessive alcohol use can lead to Alcoholic Liver disease (ALD).
Be careful with prescription - and some over the counter (OTC) drugs such as painkillers with acetaminophen (as in Tylenol).
